StarCraft II Tribute: R.I.P. Neil Armstrong
Astronaut Neil Armstrong died today Saturday, August 25, 2012 at age 82.
Gene Roddenberry created the Star Trek TV series on 1966. It caught everyone worldwide offguard when fiction became reality in 1969. Millions watched on TV on July 20, 1969, how the Apollo 11 spacecraft landed on the moon.
Mission Commander Neil Armstrong said for posterity: “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” — as he stepped a foot on the moon’s ground.
That feat inspired many science fiction stories including Star Wars, Buck Rogers, Galactica, and many others.
Upon his passing, his family said, “For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.”
A salute to the pioneer who inspired the minds of talented writers who eventually inspired more talented writers up to the development of StarCraft.
