ZERG CAMPAIGN: OVERMIND
The Swarms have crushed the meager human resistance and laid waste to nine of the thirteen Terran worlds.
Shortly after the fall of the Terran capitol world of Tarsonis, the main Protoss fleet abandoned the Terran Sector.
Now, efforts continue on Tarsonis to weed out the remaining Protoss forces.
AMONG THE RUINS

Overmind: Awaken my child, and embrace the glory that is your birthright. Know that I am the Overmind; the eternal will of the Swarm, and that you have been created to serve me.
Behold that I shall set you amongst the greatest of my Cerebrates, that you might benefit from their wisdom and experience. Yet your purpose is unique. While they carry forth my will to the innumerable Broods, you have but one charge entrusted to your care.
For I have found a creature that may yet become the greatest of my agents. Even now it resides within a protective Chrysalis, awaiting its rebirth into the Swarm.
You must watch over the Chrysalis, and ensure that no harm comes to the creature within it. Go now and keep safe my prize.
- Create a Spawning Pool.
- Create a Hydralisk Den.
- Protect the Chrysalis.
All Zerg buildings, except the Hatchery and Extractor must be constructed on creep. Creep can be created by building a Hatchery or a creep colony.
You start the mission with 2 Drones, 1 Overlord, and 11 Zerglings.
Buildings: Hatchery, Spawning Pool, and a zerg beacon with the Young Chrysalis.
200 Minerals – 8/9 .
Daggoth: The Hatchery is the heart of any Zerg colony. It spontaneously generates larva, which in turn are used to spawn your various warriors and minions.
Daggoth: Now, create a Drone and start gathering resources.
Click a larva and press D to morph it into a Drone.
Daggoth: Overlords provide control for your minions. As your forces grow in number, you must hatch more Overlords to control them. You have enough minerals. Select a larva and mutate it into an Overlord.
Click a larva and press O to morph it into an Overlord.
Morph 3 Drones at the Hatchery as minerals become available.
Daggoth: To create new warrior strains, you must generate the arious hive structures. The Drones themselves mutate into these structures. Yet be careful: Never use your last Drone to make a building.
Now, order your Drone to become a Spawning Pool. You’ll notice that structures can only implant themselves upon the creep.
Click a Drone and press B to open the Basic Mutation submenu, then press S to mutate a Spawning Pool .
Daggoth: You can make Creep Colonies to extend the creep, but only a Hatchery can be built upon open ground.
Morph 2 Drones at the Hatchery.
Click a Drone and press B to open the Basic Mutation submenu, then press E to mutate it into an Extractor .
Morph 2 Drones at the Hatchery.
Click the Zerg Creep Colony. Press U to mutate it into a Sunken Colony.
Zasz: Greetings, I am Zasz. I too am a Cerebrate of the Overmind. I have located a small band of terrans who could threaten the Chrysalis and the hive cluster. You must not allow them to leave here alive.
Send 3 drones to the Extractor to collect Vespene Gas.
Morph 1 Drone and 1 Overlord at the Hatchery. This brings you to 17/17 units.
NEW MISSION OBJECTIVE
- Destroy the Terran encampment.
Click a drone and press B to open the Basic Mutation submenu, and press D to mutate into a Hydralisk Den.
Morph a new Drone at the Hatchery.
Send your zerglings to attak these two marines at the Terran base.
There is a Goliath no the north of them — which might aggro. You might lose about 4 zerglings.
There are 3 marines by the Terran Barracks.
North of them, there is another Goliath and a marine. You should probably wait until you morph more zerglings or hydras before continuing. Just destroy the barracks and the 2 missile turrets for now.
Morph 2 Hydralisks.
Click the Hydralisk Den. Press M to Evolve Muscular Augments.
Morph 3 Drones at the Hatchery.
Select a Drone. Press B to open the Basic Mutation submenu. Press H to build a second Hatchery next to the other one.
2 Marines might attack from the north around 5:40. The Sunken Colony will take care of it.
Morph a Hydralisk at the Hatchery.
At 19/25, click the Hydralisk Den. Press G to evolve Grooved Spines. This increases the Hydralisk attack range.
Morph a Drone at the Hatchery.
Morph an Overlord at the Hatchery.
TIP: There is an empty mineral deposits area north of your base.
Morph 6 Hydralisk at the Hatchery as Minerals and Vespen Gas become available. Push it to 34/34.
Click a Drone. Press B to open the Basic Mutation submenu. Press V to mutate into an Evolution Chamber.
While those are morphing, send 6 Hydralisks to attack the Terran base. Kill 2 Goliaths and a marine standing watch nearby.
Another 2 Goliath and marine might aggro. North of that base, there are 2 goliaths and 2 marines.
In the southern outskirt of the terran base (top-right corner of the mini-map), there are 2 Wraiths.
This is what the Terran base looks like:
At 34/34 spawn an Overlord at the Hatchery.
Click the Evolution Chamber when it is completed. Press A to Evolve Missile Attacks. This increases the Hydralisk damage.
Once the Terran base is destroyed, you still need to destroy a hidden Starport located to the west of the Terran base. This completes the mission objectives.
