Choosing Sides | StarCraft: Remastered (Protoss Campaign #5)

Protoss Command Ship Gantrithor.

Low orbit over the planet Char.

One hour later.

BRIEFING

Aldaris: Executor, by following Tassadar and attempting to rescue the Dark Templar, you have openly defied the will of the Conclave. Abandon this mad scheme now, and the Conclave may show you mercy.

Tassadar: Don’t let him control you, Executor. The Judicator have long since steered the actions of the Templar to their own ends. It’s time we acted of our own accord.

Aldaris: Ah, Tassadar, have you fallen so far? To think that you were our brightest hope; our most beloved son. Now you are everything that we are not. You are lost to us. Not only have you damned yourself, but you have damned those who have followed you.

Tassadar: Such is the price for our race’s salvation, Judicator! I have been here, with the Dark Templar, these last few months. While I helped them in their fight against the Zerg, I learned many of their secrets from their Prelate, Zeratul.

Apparently, the energies which empower the Dark Templar also course through the Overmind and its Cerebrates.

Aldaris: The same Cerebrate which you told us to destroy. Your advice was useless, for the creature was reincarnatedd before our eyes!

Tassadar: Unfortunately, yes. Your attack on the Cerebrate failed because the energies that you wield are useless when used directly against the Overmind and its Cerebrates.

Only the Dark Templar’s power can truly harm the Zerg. That is why we must rescue Zeratul and return him to Aiur!

Aldaris: You were warned, Executor. The Conclave will not be pleased.

OBJECTIVES

  • Bring Tassadar and two Zealots to the installation entrance.

RESOURCES

You start with 4 Probes, 4 Zealots, 3 Dragoons, 1 Templar (Tassadar), and a Shuttle.

Buildings: A Nexus, a Gateway, and 3 Pylons.

150 Minerals – 20/33 Supplies.

STRATEGY

Send all 4 Probes to harvest minerals.

Build 8 Probes.

Send the Shuttle to explore this spot — but careful, there are 2 missile turrets.

Duke: Protoss Commander, this is General Edmund Duke of the Terran Dominion Armada. You are in violation of our air-space and have endagered human lives in your reckless attack against the Zerg. I order you to withdraw your ships immediately. If you fail to comply, I will not hesitate to open fire upon your vessels.

Tassadar: General Duke, I am Tassadar, and you are well known to me. Whatever leniency I extended to you and your comrades before, may have been in error. If you persist in halting our course, we will burn your pathetic fleet down to the last man.

Duke: I’m going to have to assume that was a hostile response…

All 7 Terran Wraiths will move toward your base to attack. Command Tassadar to Psi-Storm them twice, while your Dragoons finish them off. Micro-manage so none of your Dragoons die. You will need them for the incoming Battlecruiser.

Send a Probe northeast of your main base. There is a unprotected expansion base.

By now the Battlecruiser will slowly make its way to your base. Cast Psi Storm twice on it, and have your Dragoons kill it.

Build 4 Probes.

Build a Pylon.

Build 3 Probes.

Build a Nexus at this spot. It has 2 Vespene Geysers.

Build 1 Probe at expansion 1.

Build 3 Probes at the main base.

Select 6 existent Probes from your main base, and send them to expansion 1 to harvest different mineral nodes.

Build an Assimilator at expansion 1’s Vespene Geyser.

Build 2 Probes at expansion 1.

Build a Pylon.

Send 3 Probes to harvest Vespene Gas at the completed Assimilator in expansion 1.

Build an Assimilator at the main base — the Vespene Geyer is a bit further north of your Nexus (out of view).

Build a Cybernetics Core.

Build 6 Probes.

Build a Forge

At some point after 4:00 – 5:00, Zerglings might attack your expansion 1. Have your Zealots nearby.

Build 2 Probes.

Build a Stargate.

Select the Cybernetics Core. Upgrade Air Weapons level 1.

Build 4 Probes.

Build a Photon Cannon at your main base — between the Nexus and the Gateway.

Build a Photon Cannon at expansion 1 between the minerals and the Nexus.

Build a Pylon.

Build 2 Probes.

Select the Forge. Upgrade Plasma Shields level 1.

If any Zerglings attack your either of your bases, lure them into the Photon Cannon’s range.

Build 2 Probes.

Build a second Stargate.

Build a Scout at the Stargate 1.

Build 2 Probes.

Build a Citadel of Adun.

Build 3 Probes.

Build a Scout.

Build 2 Probes.

Build a Photon Cannon east of your Gateway in the main base.

Build a Pylon.

Select the Cybernetics Core. Upgrade Air Armor.

Build a Dragoon.

Build 2 Probes.

Build a second Cybernetics Core.

Build 2 Probes.

Build 3 Scouts at different Stargates.

Build a Pylon.

Select the Forge. Upgrade Plasma Shields level 2.

Select the Templar Archives. Develop Hallucination for Tassadar.

Build a Pylon.

Build a third Photon Cannon at expansion 1.

Build 2 Scouts.

Build a Photon Cannon east of your Gateway near the cliff to attack Overlords and whatever they deploy.

Build another Photon Cannon in the main base, near the Nexus.

Build 3 Scouts.

Build 2 Pylons.

Build 2 Templar.

By 11:00, you might have 12 Scouts.

Continue to build Scouts at a pace of 3 as resources permit.

Select the Forge. Upgrade Plasma Shields level 3.

Build a second Gateway.

Build a third Gateway.

Build a Robotics Facility.

Build 3 Pylons.

When you have 18 Scouts, move them to the eastern cliff. Move the Templars to the cliff too.

Use Hallucination to copy the Scouts.

Send the 18 Scouts to attack, but send the Hallucinations first to draw the Spore Colony, Mutalisk, and Scourge aggro at this spot.

Continue to build Scouts.

Destroy the Spore colonies and eradicate the zerg from this platform. This will be your second expansion base.

There is a hidden expansion at the Terran base (top-right corner of the mini map). It is only protected by Missile Turrets. Ideally, you might want to get into the Terran expansion from the bottom side of the lava pit.

Start building Dragoons and Zealots at the Gateway, and Shuttles at the Robotics Facility.

Bring 6 Probes to the new expansion with a Shuttle, and build a Nexus by the Minerals, and another Nexus by the Vespene Geyser at the eastern edge of the island.

Build a Pylon at the Nexus and at the Assimilator. Then build Photon Cannons around them.

Bring a few Templars, including Tassadar to the isle. Cast Hallucination on the Scouts. Send the Scouts — Hallucinations first — into the southeast zerg base.

The Mission Objective is to come to the beacon in this side of the map.

Bring Tassadar to that beacon to complete the mission.
