Dark Horse StarCraft Comics #1 Free For Limited Time

Throughout the month of May and for a limited time, Dark Horse has made the first issue of three StarCraft graphic novels free to read digitally.

  • StarCraft: Scavengers #1
  • StarCraft: Soldiers #1
  • StarCraft: Survivors #1

I recommend to read them in the same order shown above, as that’s how they were released originally.

Scavengers and Survivors are probably the best to acquire at this moment because Survivors is the continuation of Scavengers, and both have something in common: their lore might connect with future StarCraft projects.

Scavengers is the story of a former young farmer turned engineer who gets invited by a friend to join a spaceship crew. They scavenge an abandoned protoss ship on a decayed orbit around a planet.

Turns out the protoss ship is actually a prison ship with a dangerous Dark Templar. This story carries over into StarCraft: Survivors where the story leads us into the middle of … The Umojan Protectorate.

How much of the comics might shine in future StarCraft projects, is anyone’s guess. But as you might have read recently, there are job openings for a Lead Game Designer and a Senior UI/UX Designer whose job is to work on StarCraft II, StarCraft: Remastered, and Warcraft III: Reforged.

There is a chance something is cooking in the oven.
