The Invasion of Aiur | StarCraft: Remastered (Zerg Campaign #9)
High Orbit: Terran Dominion Border World Char
Cinematic: The Warp.
Tassadar and the Dark Templar Zeratul survived Kerrigan’s vicious attacks, but their Templar armies have been decimated.
Kerrigan, left behind to hunt down and eradicate the remaining Protoss warriors, begins to scour the burning wastelands of Char for her elusive prey.
Meanwhile, the entirety of the extended Zerg Swarm teleported through space-time and began its long awaited invasion of the hated Protoss Homeworld of Aiur.
THE INVASION OF AIUR
Zerg Swarm
High Orbit over Protoss Homeworld of Aiur
BRIEFING
Overmind: My children, the hour of our victory is at hand. For upon this world of Aiur shall we incorporate the strongest known species into our fold. Then shal we be the greatest of creation’s children. We shall be… Perfect.
Yet, before I can be made manifest upon this world, the way must be prepared. You must seize the Khaydarin Crystals. For within them lies power undreamed of by the Protoss.
Go now, my Cerebrate. Secure the crystals, and bring swift wrath to all who oppose the Swarm!
OBJECTIVES
- Bring a Drone to the Khaydarin Crystal Formation.
TIPS
Zerg Scourge can be set on Patrol to automatically attack all air units that come near.
RESOURCES
You start the mission with 4 Drones, 6 Zerglings, 2 Hydralisks, and 3 Overlords.
Buildings: Hatchery, Spawning Pool, Evolution Chamber, and 1 Sunken Colony.
750 Minerals – 750 Vespene Gas
– 10/26 Units
.
STRATEGY
Send 3 Drones to harvest minerals.
Morph a new Drone at the Hatchery.
Send a Drone to mutate into a second Hatchery.
Morph a new Drone to harvest minerals.
Mutate a Drone into a third Hatchery.
Morph 5 new Drones at the Hatchery as minerals become available.
By now both new Hatcheries have been completed.
Morph 8 new Drones at the Hatcheries as minerals become available.
Click the Evolution Chamber. Evolve Missile Attacks [A] Level 1.
Mutate a Drone into an Extractor at the Vespene Geyser.
Morph 2 new Drones at the Hatcheries.
Mutate a Drone into a Hydralisk Den.
Morph 1 Overlord and 5 new Drones at the Hatcheries as minerals become available.
Click the completed Hydralisk Den. Evolve Muscular Augments (M) to increase Hydralisk movement speed.
By now the protoss sent a zealot to attack your base, and a detector.
Morph 12 new Hydralisks and an Overlord as resources become available.
When the Hydralisk Den completes evolving Muscular Augments, evolve now Grooved Spines (G).
Once you have enough Hydralisks to guard your base, and 12 Hydralisks for offensive, send those 12 Hydralisks to the east to destroy this photon cannon, and the 3 Dragoons. There is another photon cannon a few yards to the south — but be careful, as you might aggro 2 Reavers, 2 Zealots, and 2 Dragoons nearby.
Morph a new Overlord, and 9 new Hydralisks.
Click the Evolution Chamber when it completes researching, and evolve Carapace (C).
Morph 5 new Hydralisks.
Evolve a Hatchery into a Lair.
Continue moving your Hydralisks to the east in a straight line toward the top-right corner of the map. There is an empty expansion base. Build a Hatchery there. Meanwhile, make at least 6 Drones at your main base, and send them to the expansion to harvest minerals. Build an Extractor there too, and set 3 Drones to harvest.
Stay away from the center of the map. It has a large protoss base. Once you have your expansion established, and you have at least 24-36 Hydralisks, send them to attack the enemy base shown below. This will be your third expansion base.
Build a new Hatchery at this second expansion once you have cleared the protoss from there.
Morph 6 Drones at the main base, and send them to the second expansion to harvest minerals. Morph one into an Extractor, and assign 3 new Drones to harvest Vespene Gas when possible.
Mutate a Drone into a second Evolution Chamber.
Morph new Overlords and Hydralisks until you have at least 48 Hydralisks available to assault the next target.
Upgrade Missile Attacks Level 2 and Carapace Leve 2 at the Evolution Chamber.
Now send all of your Hydralisks in a straight vertical line through the center until you reach the Khaydarin Crystal Formation. Bring a Drone to the beacon.
Daggoth: The Crystal is being harvested.
NEW MISSION OBJECTIVES
- 10 Minutes until harvesting is complete.
- Hold off the protoss forces while the drone harvests the Khaydarin Crystals.
This is going to be rough. Templars will cast Storm (AOE), and Protoss Arbiters will freeze your units in place in a forcefield often. On top of that, there are Protoss Carriers attacking at the Khaydarin Crystal Formation quite often.
Build a Queen’s Nest. Then upgrade the Lair into a Hive.
Now your drones can mutate into Nydus Canal. This will help you transport Hydralisks back and forth quickly if needed. So you must build a Hatchery near the Khaydarin Crystal Formation to set up a Nydus Canal exit there.
Build 2 Hatcheries on each patch of minerals, and an Extractor at the Vespene Geyser. Set up Sunken Colonies and Spore Colonies as needed. All you need to do is hold off the attacks for 10 minutes.
With the Lair upgraded to a Hive, now you have access to evolve Missile Attacks and Carapace to Level 3 at the Evolution Chamber.
Continue to Rally Hydralisks to protect the Khaydarin Crystal Formation.
When the 10 minutes countdown ends, a message pops onscreen:
Harvesting Complete.
The Drone emerges from the beacon, and it holds a Khaydarin Crystal.
NEW MISSION OBJECTIVES
- Bring Khaydarin Crystal to the Beacon.
Now you must move the Drone holding the Khaydarin Crystal through the Nydus Canal back to your main base.
Move the Drone to the beacon at your main base.
Daggoth: Cerebrate, the Khaydarin Crystals are now in our possession. Now, all shall tremble before the might of the swarm.
This mission was completed in 23:39 minutes.
