The Trial of Tassadar | StarCraft: Remastered (Protoss Campaign #8)
High Orbit: Protoss Homeworld Aiur
Tassadar was taken into Judicator custody and sentenced to stand trial for his crimes against the Conclave.
Fenix, Raynor and Tassadar’s followers escaped from the Conclave’s agents, as the Dark Templar slipped away in the chaos.
THE TRIAL OF TASSADAR
Protoss Command Ship Gantrithor
Holding orbit over the planet Aiur
BRIEFING
Fenix: En Taro Adun, Executor. All seems lost now, but still we must fight on. We must find Tassadar and secure his release from the Judicator before they can execute him for treason. Without him, I fear there is no way to defeat the Zerg and the Overmind.
Zeratul and his Dark Templar have vanished, leaving us to fend for ourselves. I wonder if Tassadar was mistaken to have put his trust in them. We are receiving a transmission from Captain Raynor’s command ship.
Raynor: This is Raynor. I’d like to help if I can. Tassadar laid it on the line for me and my crew on Char. I’d like to repay the debt. Besides, I’m a long way from home, surrounded by hostile aliens. I’ve got to do something.
Fenix: Then you shall, bold human. You shall.
OBJECTIVES
- Destroy the Stasis Cell.
- Fenix and Raynor must survive.
RESOURCES
You start with 4 Probes, 4 Zealots, and 4 Dragoons.
Heroes: Fenix (Dragoon), and Raynor (Hyperion Battlecruiser).
Buildings: Nexus, Forge, 2 Pylons, 1 Photon Cannon.
70 Minerals – 24/33 supplies.
STRATEGY
Send all 4 Probes to harvest minerals.
Build 7 Probes.
Build a Pylon.
At 31/33, build an Assimilator at the Vespene Geyser.
Build 3 Probes.
At 33/41, build a Gateway.
Build a Probe.
Select the Carrier. Build interceptors.
Build 2 Probes.
Send your Dragoons to this spot, and kill the wandering Zealots. Micro-manage your units so they don’t get damaged.
Build a Probe.
Build a Cybernetics Core.
Build a Probe.
Send your Dragoons to kill 4-6 Zealots south of your base.
Build a second Gateway.
Build a third Gateway.
Build 4 Probes.
Select the Cybernetics Core. Develop Singularity Charge.
Build photon cannons between the Nexus and the Assimilator. You might have an attack of Scouts and a Carrier in that area post 4:00.
Build 2 Probes.
Build a Dragoon.
Build a fourth Gateway.
Build 2 Dragoons.
Build a Probe.
Build a Pylon.
Build a second and third Photon Cannon between the Nexus and the Assimilator.
By now the enemy base sent another 6 Zealots at the previous spot — they are queued there to attack your base. Kill them with your Dragoons.
Build a Probe.
Build a Dragoon.
Select the Forge. Upgrade Ground Weapons Level 1.
Build 2 Pylons.
Build 2 Probes.
Build a fifth Gateway.
Build a sixth Gateway.
Build 2 Dragoons.
Build 2 Probes.
When you have 8 Dragoons and 2+ Zealots, send them to attack the enemy base south. However, approach from the cliff side in diagonal so you only face 2 photon cannons. Careful with the 2+ Reavers. Retreat if you lose 2 Dragoons. (point of entry is east of the Protoss Battery seen below)
If you approached from the north, you might lose all units to 4 Photon Cannons.
Build 2 Dragoons and a Zealot keeping a 2:1 ratio. In this case, Zealots are important to get close to the Reavers and Photon Cannons quickly.
Select the Forge. Upgrade Ground Armor Level 1.
Build 2 Pylons.
When the enemy base is destroyed, build a Nexus there immediately. Place a Pylon and 3 Photon Cannons. Then build 6 Probes at the main base and send them down to the expansion base.
TIP: There is an abandoned mineral field protected by 2 dragoons at this location.
Upgrade Ground Armor and Plasma Shields at the Forge.
Build a Citadel of Adun.
Build an Assimilator at the expansion base.
Once you have a sizeable army of over 12+ Dragoons, send them to the east of your main base to attack the enemy base. Better to start from the southmost Photon Cannon (above the mini-map shown below)
When there are no enemy units defending, destroy the Pylons to depower their buildings.
After destroying the enemy Nexus, bring a Probe to build a Nexus next to the Vespene Geyser which is further east of the minerals. Build a Pylon and 4 Photon Cannons near the Nexus.
Select the Citadel of Adun. Develop Leg Enhancements.
Build a Templar Archives.
Select the Forge. Upgrade Plasma Shields.
Build a second Forge.
Build a third Forge — (Now that you have Templar Archives, you can upgrade weapons, armor, and shields up to level 3).
Build a seventh, eighth and nineth Gateway.
Start building pylons and pumping out Zealots en mass beyond 155/155.
Rally your troops at this location before moving to assault the enemy base that holds Tassadar in a Stasis cell. (Rally point shown below as a yellow arrow).
The path of this base is a bit awkward. You have to go all the way around west, then south to reach the ramp.
Build an Observatory. Then send a few Observers to show you the area before you go in (if you wish, but the image above shows you the basics of what to expect.)
You might want to have at least 4-6 Templars to be able to cast Psi Storm on Reavers, Scouts, and Carriers. This area is heavily protected by those.
Bring any unit to the beacon (next to the Stasis Cell). A message pops onscreen:
Fenix: Executor, we have found Tassadar’s Stasis Cell. We will attempt to free him now.
Continue to rally Zealots, Dragoons, and Templars to this spot. This Stasis Cell has 2000/2000 hit points. You need to protect the units destroying it and hold ground.
When the Statis Cell is destroyed, the mission is complete. A dialogue starts.
Aldaris: I expected you to attempt to retrieve your hero. You will learn that the will of the Conclave is absolute. Make peace with Adun.
Zeratul: Stay thy hand, Judicator. The stewards of Tassadar shall not fall while the Dark Templar live. Call off your guards and stand aside, and you may yet live to see another moonrise.
Aldaris: I will not be addressed so by one so devoid of the Khala’s light. You and your vile brethren shall die with these traitors.
Zeratul: Are you truly so blinded by your vaunted religion, that you can’t see the fall ahead of you? Your Conclave believes that they are winning this war, but all they’ve succeeded in doing is helping the Overmind to win.
Aldaris: What could you possibly know about our designs, blasphemer?
Zeratul: You speak of knowledge, Judicator? You speak of experience? I have journeyed through the darkness between the most distant stars. I have beheld the births of negative-suns and borne witness to the entropy of entire realities… Unto my experience, Aldaris, all that you’ve built here on Aiur is but a fleeting dream. A dream from which your precious Conclave shall awaken, finding themselves drowned in a greater nightmare.
Aldaris: We shall see…
